Natural Remedies for Insomnia
The lovely, tranquil image featured above is a print of a beautiful painting titled "The Bath" by nangicreations. Please check out her Etsy shop to view her paintings, prints and other hand-crafted items.
A hot bath taken two hours before bedtime is a wonderful way to relax your body and make it ready for sleep. For most people, taking a bath closer to bedtime may be stimulating and may delay sleep (of course, there are always exceptions, so experiment with the timing if you need to). Adding epsom salts to your hot bath is even better because the magnesium in the epsom salt is thought to play a natural role in human sleep. It has a part in the production of melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone that is released by the brain at night.
There are also two herbs that can help combat insomnia: Neroli and Chamomile. The use Neroli oil for curing insomnia is no longer a novel idea. Inhaling its aromatic essences help to calm your mind; and therefore, this type of oil is very ideal to use on insomnia that is caused by nervous anxiety, stress, or some other psychological conditions. It also eases your mind so it aids for better quality sleep at night.
Neroli:
Throughout the ages Chamomile has proved a very effective sleep aid and it can be administered in a variety of ways including being brewed as a tea and used in a sachet placed under your pillow. Unlike some herbal sleep remedies, you do not need to use Chamomile on a regular basis to enjoy its effects as a treatment for sleeplessness. It can be used on the spot to provide quick relief for sleeplessness and anxiety. Chamomile can prove especially helpful in relieving the symptoms of mild insomnia (also known as transient insomnia).
Chamomile:
Now adding Neroli, Chamomile, and Magnesium rich epsom salts to your hot bath will create an amazing remedy for your insomnia. In my Etsy shop "Eco-Friendly Freckles", I have an all-natural, hand-crafted soap called "Golden Goddess" that contains a potent amount of the pure essential oils of Chamomile and Neroli that will feel the air, provide an effective inhalation, and sooth your mind. Using this soap while taking a hot epsom salt bath should result in a peaceful, restful night's sleep. I encourage you to give it a try and I feel confident that you will see rewarding results and better sleep.
